Cottages known as "cock row"

By Robin Wright

There were five terraced cottages situated on High Street just around the corner from the Cardigan Arms. The cottages, which were demolished long ago, ran eastward and were situated immediately to the right if the stone houses (no. 21 & 23) which still exist.

My grandparents lived in the cottage until 1938 (they moved to 104 Stephenson Way) when they passed it on to my parents and their 3 children.

The picture on the left shows my brother Brian (known as Jimmy) outside standing in High St outside the cottages.    Behind him are the stone houses which were occupied by the Hankin. and Streather families.

Should also have said that the photo on the right is of my sister Patricia (Pat) who, like many Corby girls, married a GI and moved to Colorado where she lived happily and raised a family of three boys and two girls.
